PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

See decriptions to some of the retreat’s programs below. Unless otherwise noted, all of the programs listed here are available both in person and online. All times are Pacific Standard.

WEDS SEPT 1ST, 2PM: Cultural Humility and Self Observation with Rukmini
Together, we will explore what cultural humility is, how we can be more humble as we walk with people from different experiences of life, and learn to observe assumptions or systems of defense through body-based awareness.
Some topics may include definitions of cultural humility; microaggressions and microaffirmations; and ways to become more culturally humble, along with how this ties into the yogic principle of svadhyaya.
THURS, SEPT 2ND 10AM: Rising to Meet Changing Times with Ravi

How has several years of pandemic, extreme weather, political turmoil, economic dislocations, rising voices of the marginalized, growing homelessness, personal challenges, etc. impacted us? How is it affecting our outlook for the future? How should our community be preparing to respond to changing times? A time to reflect and envision, together.

THURS, SEP 2ND, 2:30PM: Mapping Our Roles in a Social Change Ecosystem with Shakti

We all play an important role in achieving collective liberation, and we can’t do it alone. In this workshop we’ll identify our archetypal roles in creating a better world. We’ll explore the duties of these roles and how they function in support of each other.

SAT, SEP 4TH, 8PM: Envisioning the Possibilities with Madhuliika (available in-person only)

Join Madhuliika for a creative program that taps into our deepest desire for a new vision of society that works for everyone.

SUN, SEPT 5TH, 10AM: In Service to Humanity with Madhuliika

An exploration of the ways in which Ananda Seva is meeting the challenges of our time and how we may view the changes as an opportunity to serve with hope and inspiration.

COVID SAFETY

The Ananda Seva Board is prioritizing the health and safety of our community. Some of the steps that will be taken to prevent the spread of COVID include the following:

  • First and foremost, only fully vaccinated people are allowed to attend.
  • There will be minimal time spent in an indoor setting. Meals, break time, and many  programs will be held outside in an event tent. And one day will be devoted to a trip to  the Oregon Coast.
  • The indoor space will be exceptionally well ventilated, with a virus elimination air  filter in operation.
  • The area of the indoor space is sufficient to allow people to maintain recommended  social distancing.
  • All attending should bring face masks and use them if they go off site to public  settings. We reserve the option to have people mask during indoor kiirtans if deemed  necessary.
  • The lodging accommodations will provide attendees with individual room space.

This is a fluid situation and AS will remain vigilant in making needed adjustments in  accordance with the CDC, state and local guidelines, should adjustments become  necessary. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
