Healing with Surrender

People need to be comforted and inspired. Primary discomfort comes from mental and emotional disturbance, and this is cured with surrender. It is like the gentle healing that is encouraged by homeopathic medicine. This medicine does not “heal”; it encourages the body to heal itself as does yogic and Ayurveda health practices. So sometimes there is an attachment to “being” sick, to see one’s self as a person hobbled by disease and pain. So it is this view of oneself that must be surrendered. You must see yourself as guru sees you. You are perfect beings and you have come to suffer some stresses in the world so that your perfect beingness can shine through your worldly manifestation. Karma is the rushing river that turns the rocks over and over again until they become smooth and lovely to the touch and the sight. It takes some force, some unpleasant experiences for your inner light, for your inner core to shine through.

For those of you on the path laid out by this guru, you burn your samskaras by dedicating yourself to the general uplift of the society. And all of the obstacles and all of the frustrations and pains on the way to doing this service are there for your own personal spiritual growth. They are not there to stop the work; it will go on with you or without you. It is to give you the alternative to the auto accident, or the house burning, or the mental anguish of the loss of a loved one. Your karma comes up, but more and more it is while you are on the path to do service, not on the path to acquire wealth, or comfort, or self-gratification. One way or the other you will still be in the rushing river of karma to polish off your rough edges, only now it is through your effort to assist others that you get these blessings.

“You are perfect beings and you have come to suffer some stresses in the world so that your perfect beingness can shine through your worldly manifestation.”
